The Moses

 

 

Fired clay, 17" x 10" x 3.5" A commission inspired by Michelangelo's Moses from the church of San Pietro de Vincoli, Rome. When I was a kid I loved building with clay; it's the immediacy and expressionism possible with this medium that I love. As an exchange student in Rome, I had the opportunity to visit Michelangelo's Moses.

It's hard to see in this picture but this hat has shimmery strands of brown highlights.  Our fabulous model makes the hat look even better with her cadmium orange jacket and leopard print scarf.
